This all sounds like fun: Wendy R mentioned that the New York Baroque Dance Company has open classes once a month; unfortunately, from my point of view, they’re first Saturday afternoons, which means they conflict with LES shapenote. This Saturday, Oct. 4, they’re teaching Pemberton’s minuet. Classes are at the Mark Morris Dance Center in downtown Brooklyn (well, next to BAM, if that’s not downtown I’m not sure what it is).
And next Saturday, October 11, they’re throwing “Lady Riot’s Costumed Ball” at the 92nd Street Y. Starts with a lesson in ball etiquette at 7, then dancing beginning at 8.
Ballroom and country dances published in London from 1709-1730 and sold on St Catherine´s Street near Covent Garden will be taught to the public.
